🥣 Ingredients needed

This is an overview of the ingredients needed to make this recipe. The complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the printable recipe card further below in the post.
For this pasta salad, you will need:
- Tri-color rotini: You can also subsitute another style of pasta (such as penne) if that’s what you have on hand.
- Salt: For the pasta
- Olive oil
- Broccoli
- Red bell pepper
- Italian dressing: I used Newman’s Own.
- Black olives: You will need a small can of black olives for this recipe. Mine was about 2.25 ounces.
- Garlic powder
🔪 Equipment needed
You will need a large pot to boil the pasta in, a steamer (insert or microwave type), and a large bowl.
⏲️ Recipe instructions (step by step guide)

Chop your bell pepper into small pieces (image 1).
Next, cook your rotini according to the directions on the box with the teaspoon of salt. Rinse in a colander with cool water and drain. Add to a large bowl (image 2).
Steam your broccoli (either in the microwave or use a steamer basket and pot on your stove-top. Rinse in a colander with cool water and drain. Add to the pasta (image 3).
Add the remaining ingredients to the pasta salad and toss everything together (image 4). I recommend letting the salad sit in your fridge for at least 20 minutes before serving to let all the flavors come out.
👩🏻🍳 Tips
- Use a good quality bottled Italian dressing (I used Newman’s Own) for the best results.
- Rinse and drain your olives before adding them into the pasta salad.
🥡 How to store leftovers
Store any leftover pasta salad in your refrigerator in an airtight container. It will be good for up to four days after making.
